Risks of Surgery

As with any kind of surgical procedure certain risks apply. These risks include:
- Mortality rate 0.5 - 2.5% ( 1-1.5%)
- DVT or Pulmonary Embolus
- Infections
- Bleeding (possible transfusion)
- Leaks (some require re-operation)
- Spleen injury
- Hernia
Possible side-effects of surgery may include:
- Nausea
- Early post-op or if one overeats
- Food intolerances
- Red meat, milk, fats, sugars
- Less bowel function
- Hair loss
- Dumping syndrome
